Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Soldiers Group

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces expanding in power within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of characters who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team includes Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might look unsuited, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

First, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose death initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.

Casimir then settled his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each character has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires vengeance.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • But, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the team access areas they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, Teor pledged a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and Wicander defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The target is marked for death by House Halovar.

This results in them no alternative but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Seekers and Strategists parties.

Viewers can look forward to discovering which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, streaming live on October 24.
